"Close Tones in Tuscany" - Gum arabic gouache
Marta Bartolozzi, a native New Yorker and resident of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, is a graduate of the Parson's School of Design. She also studied at the Art Students' League in New York City and at the Instituto del 'Arte a Ristauro in Florence, Italy.
"Houses on the Hill" - Gum arabic gouache
Marta lived in Florence from 1984 to 1990 where she apprenticed and worked with master artisans in the field of restoration and decoration of wood. It was here that she mastered the use of gum arabic gouache, the medium used exclusively in that field, and the medium she used for her paintings.
"Tuscan Road" - Gum arabic gouache
Her work has been exhibited in galleries and juried art shows in the Greater Philadelphia area. She has won awards from the Plastic Club, Community Arts Center, Wallingford, Chester County Art Association, among others. She has exhibited in New York City's Chris Ellis Collection, Columbus Ohio's David Barker Corporate Art, Main Line's Acton Galleries and Gallery Off The Square. Her work is in private collections throughout the United States.
